Frequently Asked Questions
About MK Magnetics Inc

What is MK Magnetics, Inc. and what does it do?

MK Magnetics, Inc. is a core manufacturer founded in April 2003 to fill an industry need for the highest quality tape wound soft magnetic cores. We sell cores domestically and internationally. We have been shipping high quality cores since June 2003.
MK Magnetics, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Stangenes Industries, Inc.  Stangenes Industries produces isolation transformers, current monitors, charging inductors, and many other magnetic components designed and manufactured to customer specifications. Stangenes is the worldwide leader in the design and production of high-voltage pulse transformers for high-power microwave tubes. (top)

What does MK Magnetics manufacture?

MK Magnetics specializes in the production of custom and standard tape wound soft magnetic cores. All of the cores we sell are manufactured on site in Adelanto, CA. We do not subcontract any of our manufacturing.   (top)

Which core configurations do you offer?

MK Magnetics offers an extensive and varied array of core configurations. Configurations include cut cores (sometimes referred to as C-cores and E-cores), toroidal shaped cores including cased units (aluminum, nylon), epoxy coated cores, cut-in-half cores (current clamps), and gapped cores. Core size is not an issue in manufacturing. Our quality cores can be from hundredths of a pound to several thousands pounds.   (top)

In what types of materials do you offer your cores?

We offer one of the largest selections of material types and thicknesses available in the industry. The materials used include nanocrystalline, amorphous, silicon-iron, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. Thicknesses range from 0.0005 inches to 0.014 inches.   (top)

What is the relationship between MK Magnetics and National-Arnold Magnetics, Co. (NAM)?

The two companies are not related in any way. As we understand it, the assets of NAM were purchased by Magnetic Metals Corp. and moved to Anaheim, CA. MK Magnetics occupies the facility that was formerly occupied by NAM in Adelanto, CA. The facility was completely vacant when we moved in. We did not acquire any of NAM's equipment, employees, drawings, or intellectual property.   (top)

Isn't it true that several former employees of NAM work for MK Magnetics?

We are proud that several former NAM employees have been hired by MK Magnetics. They bring with them, on average, over 15 years each of experience in the magnetics field. Some of these employees chose not to relocate or commute (approximately 160 miles a day) when the assets of NAM were sold. Many employees were not offered positions in Anaheim by Magnetic Metals Corp. We hired the best employees because they are very knowledgeable and highly skilled.   (top)

When I place an order, can you refer to information (drawings, specifications) that I gave to NAM for past orders?

No. We do not have any of that information. However, our Customer Service and Engineering staffs will work with you to ensure your cores are correct on your first and subsequent orders with MK Magnetics.   (top)

Are MK Magnetics' products the same as NAM's?

No. We believe that they are better. MK Magnetics has created an environment where quality and efficiency are paramount. Whether it is manufacturing procedures or use of specialized equipment, we have engineered in QUALITY -- our top priority.
